Rotary Lobe Pumps
Rotary lobe pumps are hygienic positive-displacement pumps used for reliable transfer of liquids and semi-solids, especially where you need gentle handling, consistent flow, and CIP/SIP cleanability.
What are rotary lobe pumps and how do they work?
A rotary lobe pump uses two synchronised lobes rotating inside a casing. As the lobes separate at the inlet they create suction, trap fluid in cavities, carry it around the casing, then displace it out at the outlet as the lobes mesh again. Timing gears keep the lobes aligned so they typically don’t contact each other.
Rotary Lobe Pump Typical applications
• Food & beverage: dairy, sauces, syrups, chocolate, fruit preparations
• Pharma/biotech & personal care: creams, gels, shampoos, hygienic transfer
• Process/industrial: viscous products, resins, suspensions (duty dependent)
Why buy rotary lobe pumps from Triark?
Triark can support pump selection, spares supply and aftercare—helping you choose the right pump configuration for flow, pressure, viscosity, product sensitivity and cleaning regime, then keep it running with the correct service parts and support.
Rotary lobe pump spares and service
Common wear/service items include:
• Mechanical seals
• O-rings/gaskets
• Bearings/gearbox oil
• Rotors/lobes and casing clearances (if exposed to wear/abrasion)
Lobe Pump Repair and maintenance
Good practice includes:
• Monitor leaks, noise/vibration, and gearbox oil condition
• Avoid dry running and deadheading (use pressure protection on PD pumps)
• Check suction conditions to prevent starvation and premature seal wear
