Circumferential piston pumps

External Circumferential Piston Pumps (ECP Pumps)

Circumferential piston pumps are hygienic positive-displacement pumps designed for gentle, low-pulsation transfer of liquids and viscous products—often where you need CIP/SIP cleanability, stable flow, and careful product handling.

What are ECP pumps and how do they work?
A circumferential piston pump uses a single rotating piston (rotor) that follows the inside of the pump casing. As it rotates, it creates expanding chambers at the inlet to draw product in, then carries the product around the casing and displaces it out at the outlet as the chamber volume reduces. The geometry helps deliver smooth flow compared with many other PD pump types.

ECP Pump Typical applications
• Food & beverage: dairy (including creams/yoghurts), sauces, syrups, chocolate, fruit preparations
• Pharma/biotech & personal care: creams, gels, lotions, hygienic transfer of high-value products
• Process/industrial: viscous products and suspensions (duty dependent)

Why buy ECP Pumps from Triark?
Triark can support pump selection, spares supply and aftercare—helping you match pump size and configuration to your flow, pressure, viscosity, product sensitivity and cleaning regime, then supporting uptime with the right service parts and technical help.

ECP pump spares and service
Common wear/service items include:
• Mechanical seals
• O-rings/gaskets
• Bearings/gearbox oil (where applicable)
• Rotor/piston and casing clearances (especially if products are abrasive or contain solids)

Repair and maintenance
Good practice includes:
• Monitor seal leakage, noise/vibration, and gearbox oil condition
• Avoid dry running and deadheading (use pressure protection on PD pumps)
• Ensure good suction conditions to prevent starvation and reduce seal wear
• Keep CIP/SIP parameters within seal/elastomer limits
